Sometimes the best plan for two is the simplest: disconnect, wrap up warm and watch a mountain. In the Cotopaxi páramo, less than two hours from Quito, that plan exists.

What makes a getaway here special

  • Rooms with a wood-burning stove and, in several of them, a private deck facing the volcano.
  • Clear night skies and sunrises you can watch from bed or from the deck.
  • Real silence: no city noise, no crowds.
  • Dinners with local produce and trout from the area.

A sample weekend

Saturday: arrive, enjoy a relaxed lunch and a short walk on the lodge trails. Dinner by the fire.
Sunday: breakfast with a view, a hike or gentle horseback ride, then back to Quito in the afternoon.
